Background Checks and Motor Vehicle Reports#
USA Artistic Swimming is proud to announce a working partnership with the National Center for Safety Initiatives. We have taken important steps to ensure the highest level of safety within our programs for the youth participants and also for you, who make the programs a success. It is a top priority of USA Artistic Swimming that all athletes are afforded the opportunity to learn and compete in a safe environment. USA Artistic Swimming and the USA Artistic Swimming Foundation are committed to providing a safe place for our athletes and we hope you are too.
Membership types that require a background screening:
- Professional membership adult
- Athlete Safety membership
- Life Member Active
- Instructor membership Adult
- Skills specialist membership
As well as a Level 1-2 official!
According to USA Artistic Swimming's revised application of the United States Olympic Committees athlete safety policy, Background Screens are now a requirement to be a member of USA Artistic Swimming in the category you are currently registered.
One of these steps is the implementation of a standardized approach to background screening for our Coaches, Judges and Volunteers through the National Center for Safety Initiatives. This includes a comprehensive background screening using the Center's Check It Twice TM product and a simple "Red Light/Green Light" clearance report, issued in accordance with the Recommended Guidelines® published by the National Council of Youth Sports. This is part of a national movement toward the standardization of safety programs for youth-serving organizations in this country.
Also available as an additional screening process is a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), if desired. Please note: the MVR is NOT required for all individuals of USA Artistic Swimming and the cost will not be covered. If you have questions about who this is required for, contact memcoord@usaartisticswim.org
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK
To have a criminal background check performed, click here. A Red or Green Light will be returned to USA Artistic Swimming and is good for a two-year period (rechecked after one year) until it is inactive. A Red Light constitutes a failed background check. To review our Red Light Policy click here.
