USA Artistic Swimming Olympic Team Set to Head to Paris

After 16 years, a full roster of eight future Olympians are on their way to compete on sport's biggest stage: The Olympic Games. The United States has not had a full team representing the stars and stripes in the sport of Artistic Swimming since 2008 Bejing. After a long-awaited journey with many trials, the US will see one of their strongest teams yet take the stage in Paris.
In February the full national team roster of 12 athletes contributed to qualification at the 2024 World Championships in Doha, Qatar when the team secured two bronze medals in their Free Routine and Acrobatic Routine, landing in the second overall team rankings behind China.
Some of the athletes use words such as ‘surreal, insane, and fulfilling’ when it was official they would make history. For members Anita Alvarez, Daniella Ramirez, and Ruby Remati, this moment has been long awaited, as during the last Olympic cycle they were a part of the team that failed to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games by just .2110.
Looking back, Ruby Remati shares that exact moment made her more appreciative of her punched ticket to Paris secured four years later, “I’m so grateful I have gotten to experience both the good and the bad moments with this team and organization. We finally received a special ending together after such a difficult and packed past.”
The first goal had been completed for Team USA: qualifying for the Olympics. The next mission: secure a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
"We have the most diverse team in the world for our sport, with each member possessing unique personalities that complement one another. We've created specific roles for everyone, and they thrive off each other's strengths." After countless hours of training and refining their routines over the past months, the eight-man roster is as strong as ever. Fuentes believes that the team's diverse personalities enhances their ability to work cohesively and effectively to accomplish what they hope to do within the coming weeks.
At the 2024 World Cup Super-final in June, the team’s performance solidified coach Fuentes’ beliefs. In Budapest the team took three consecutive gold medals across all Team Routines. The team swam the highest Free Team routine score recorded since the new scoring system has been introduced and debuted a new Acrobatic routine that turned heads of all competitors.
USA Artistic Swimming’s only returning Olympian Anita Alvarez, shares she walks into Paris with her head held high. “Going in feeling confident in our preparation, having excitement to show it all off and having zero attachment to all potential outcomes. Trusting in the work we have put in every day and enjoying each moment and accepting the outcomes that will come, knowing we have already made history and succeeded in all ways possible.”
The competition for Artistic Swimming is set to begin on August 5th beginning with USA’s well-known Michael Jackson themed Technical Routine and ending on the 10th with duet Megumi Field and Jaime Czarkowski.
