Shari Darst to Retire at the End of 2024, Leaving an Impression That Will Last Decades!
by USA Artistic Swimming
We invite every member of the artistic swimming committee to celebrate the retirement announcement of Shari Darst. Shari has served USAAS as the Education Director for nearly a decade, but she has been involved in artistic swimming nearly her whole life.
For those of you that have had the pleasure of meeting Shari, you know that she is incredibly kind and caring. She wants the best for all of us and that is what has made her so great in her role. Yes, she has judge and coach knowledge to share, but it is her willingness and desire to share it that makes her so special.
The USAAS community will miss Shari as she has been an incredible resource for us over the years, but she leaves USAAS in a much better position than the day she started. The organization is more committed than ever to continuing and advancing the great work that Shari has started. “Shari’s personality has been instrumental in improving the culture of USAAS. I am so thankful for her and her family. She has given so much, and we look forward to celebrating her for the next four months and beyond!”, says USAAS CEO Adam Andrasko
We also want to make sure that everyone knows that Shari won’t be too far away. She will continue to judge and of course she will be actively watching and celebrating every level of athlete, coach, judge, technical official, synchro mom and dad, and anyone else that shows any interest in our great sport.
I want to thank everyone in the synchro community for your support over the years. It has been my honor & privilege to serve as the Education Director for this organization. The opportunity I was given over 9 years ago to take on this position is one that I will never take for granted. I have seen first time coaches grow to become coaches for elite level camps and national teams. I have seen brand new judges become national and international judges. And finally, and most importantly, I have seen young athletes develop into Junior World Champions and Olympic Silver Medalists! I also want to take this opportunity to thank my family & close friends who have been by my side & believed in me from the beginning, I appreciate you all more than I could ever express. A heartfelt thank you to Adam for his support & guidance, and to all my coworkers for making my job easier. This chapter may be closing, but the connections will remain forever. Thank you for believing in me and helping me succeed in my role as the USAAS Education Director, I will forever cherish the memories and friendships made.
