USA Artistic Swimming will host multiple national events in the home of the national office beginning on Sunday. Colorado Springs will welcome athletes, judges and coaches from across the globe for the Panam Aquatics Duet Camp, FINA Fall Coaches Clinic and FINA Judge Certification School. The United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center is sure to be the buzzing with international excitement for artistic swimming as participants will live and learn on the Colorado campus during the week.

Over 65 individuals will participate in the Panam Aquatics Duet Camp. Instructors include artistic swimming superstars Andrea Fuentes (ESP), Bill May (USA), Benoit Beaufils (FRA) and Virginia Dedieu (FRA). Athletes from both female and mixed duets representing 16 Panamerican nations will learn from camp facilitators to with the goal of continuing to improve the competitive power of artistic swimming in the region. The program will begin Sunday and programming will take place over a week.

Maureen Croes, President of Panam Aquatics communicated her excitement for the opportunity for the athletes: “This is the first-ever training camp for Artistic Swimming in the Americas. A collaboration between Panam Sports, Panam Aquatics, USOPC and USAAS provided this incredible opportunity for our artistic swimming athletes to work with world class coaches and one another in an environment outside of competition. Our Continent has and has always had very talented athletes, but due to the fact that the sport is a very demanding sport to coach, it has been a challenge for our athletes to compete with the best in the world. This camp is providing the athletes and their coaches with an opportunity to grow and we hope that by making this a recurring event, the talented artistic swimming athletes from the Americas will have the tools to thrive on the world stage.”

For the FINA events, over 30 judges and 25 coaches will meet to educate themselves on the new scoring system. Led by Ana Montero (ESP), who has been instrumental in the development of the new system, with assistance from Tammy McGregor (USA), FINA Coaches Committee Chairwoman, the goal of the educational seminars is to continue to provide clarity around the new system. The FINA action will take place later in the week.

The events were possible through a collaboration with Panam Sports, FINA, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and USA Artistic Swimming. USA Artistic Swimming is fortunate to be able to host premiere events on US soil and looks forward to welcoming artistic swimming athletes, coaches and officials to Olympic City, USA.
